As a warm-up for the conference, an easy and near-by tour is provided by the organizers. It should help those paticipating to get to know the confernce city and gives them a first impression as well as some time to explore Zurich by themselves.

Post Tour – Sunday June 17th & Monday June 18th 2012

Concept: Getting to know Switzerland!

The World Congress concludes with a choice of either a one-day or a two-day post-congress tour of Switzerland. We show you breathtaking spots and views in the Alps and scenic train and boat rides at special congress rates.

Fee: 180 CHF (1 day), 395 CHF (2 days), spouse fee 260 CHF (same room accomodation)

  • 09.40 h Meet guide at lobby of Swissôtel
  • 10.00 h Transfer to downtown
  • 10.15 h Walking tour of Zurich‘s medieval city centre, part 1
    visit: Polybahn (cable car), view point at Institute of Technology,
    Niederdorf (medieval city), Grossmünster (oldest church),
    Zurich Parliament, Gemüsebrücke (market bridge),
    Limmat way, Peterhofstatt (old square),
    remains roman bath, Storchengasse (shopping street),
    Fraumünster (Chagall windows, organized group picture), city hall,
    lakes side bridge, Bürkliplatz (Lake)
  • 11.40 h Getting on the Boat
  • 12.10 h Boat ride along the beautiful shores of Lake Zurich / 3 course lunch is served on the boat
  • 13.15 h return of the boat
    Walking tour of Zurich‘s medieval city centre, part 2
    visit: Heimatwerk (souvenirs), Bahnhofstreet (shopping street),
    Paradeplatz (banking center), go back to the main station
  • 14.08 h departure mountain train to Uetliberg (873 m / 2864 ft)
  • 14.30 h arrival, 15 minutes hike to birds view tower, in clear sunny weather
    enjoy a fantastic view across Zurich, the Swiss low lands and the alps,
  • 16.15 h latest departure of montain train,
  • 16.45 h change at main station or spend some more time downtown / at river
  • 17.00 h arrival at hotel for those who change at main station

Post Tour Program Day 1 (draught)

  • 08.30 h Pick up at Zurich Swissôtel
  • Bus Transfer to the beautiful city of Lucerne (arrival 09.45 h, Kappel Bridge)
  • 11.00 h Board classical Swiss Lake Boat
  • Boat Ride on Lake Lucerne to Vitznau
  • Funicular Ride to top of Rigi mountain (arrival 12.45 h)
  • Enjoy the spectacular view point at 1'800 m.a.s.l.
  • Lunch at the mountain top restaurant
  • 15.00 h Cable Car back to lake shore
  • 15.30 h Pickup/Bustransfer back to Lucerne
  • Guided City Tour of the Greatest sights / individual (shoping) time
  • 1 day trip concludes with a 1 hour train ride back to Zurich

Continuation for the overnight guest:

  • Bus Trip over the beautiful Brünig mountain pass into the world famous Bernese Oberland / spectacular Lake & High Alps Region
  • 18.30 h check in Hotel in Interlaken (a city between two famous lakes at the foot of the Swiss alps including famous Jungfrau and Eiger mountains)
  • 19.00 h dinner in Swiss folklore restaurant incl. show of Swiss music and dancing

Post Tour Program Day 2 (draught)

  • check out / baggage storage
  • individual sightseeing, mountain train trips or hiking in the UNESCO world heritage region Jungfrau with famous resorts Grindelwald, Wengen or Kleine Scheidegg
  • option: going on to JUNGFRAU – TOP OF EUROPE (special WF price: 175 CHF) at 3454 m.a.s.l. (11'333 feet) with spectacular glacier and high alp experience
  • late afternoon bus pick up
  • bus transfer back to Zurich

The option «Jungfrau - Top of Europe» depends strongly on weather conditions and may be booked during the congress in Zurich.
